June 1980, Beijing.
It was just after four o'clock in the morning. The light blue sky shrouded the dirt road leading to the city, and the air was still filled with the sultry moisture that had not dissipated from the night.
The vegetable farmer in the village was driving a bullock cart to the spontaneous morning market in the city, when he suddenly felt an overwhelming pain in his stomach.
He spat secretly, then held his stomach and got into the grass on the side of the road.
A few minutes later, as the vegetable farmer was picking up his pants and preparing to leave, a pungent rotten smell suddenly rushed into his nose. He couldn't help but curiously search for the source of the smell.
As soon as I walked to the door of the broken shed not far away, I saw a woman with a single braid lying neatly in a pool of blood.
There was also a baby with purple skin in his arms who was not yet full-term.
"Mom!"
The vegetable farmer was so frightened that he staggered and ran out crawling on the ground: "Help! Someone is dead! Murder!"
Wang Meng, the deputy captain of the criminal investigation team, stood outside the broken shed. He couldn't help but frown and cursed: "The fourth one! This time, he didn't even spare a child under the age of one month. What a heartless beast!"
"What kind of world do you think this is? Fortunately, the boss has already invited experts. I hope the murderer can be caught this time."
As investigator Liu Haoqiang said, he heard footsteps coming from behind him.
The two of them turned to look at the same time, and saw Guo Baoguo, the captain of their criminal investigation team, walking against the sky, followed by a young girl wearing a white shirt and black trousers who looked a little nervous.
Guo Baoguo only glanced at the two of them, then led the girl beside him into the shed: "Professor Xiao Meng, the body is inside."
Sensing the appraising eyes on her, Meng Changli straightened his back subconsciously and nodded towards them with a smile.
Liu Haoqiang and Wang Meng also nodded in response. After they entered, they looked at each other and saw the surprise in each other's eyes.
But he didn't say anything, but turned around and continued to work on the work at hand.
Meng Changli took a look at the indoor environment. It was dilapidated, but there was still shelter.
There were no footprints or traces around. It was obvious that the murderer had specially cleaned the scene after committing the crime.
She reached the edge of the pool of blood and stopped.
