From the stone egg that had absorbed the essence of heaven and earth for countless eons, a stone monkey emerged. Light shot from his eyes, reaching all the way to the Jade Emperor's palace.

Sun Wukong found his tribe of monkeys behind the great waterfall, in the Cave of the Water Curtain. The other monkeys, grateful for his discovery, made him their king.

Determined to escape death, the Monkey King journeyed across the sea and found the great sage Subodhi, who taught him the seventy-two transformations and the secret of the cloud somersault.

Back at Flower-Fruit Mountain, the Monkey King defeated the Demon King of Confusion and armed his monkey army with weapons seized from the dragon king of the Eastern Sea.
