When the people of the world all know beauty as beauty, then ugliness arises. When they all know good as good, then evil arises. Being and non-being produce each other. Difficult and easy complement each other.

The sage does not accumulate for himself. The more he does for others, the more he has. The more he gives to others, the more he possesses of the Tao of Heaven. The way of Heaven benefits and does not harm. The way of the sage acts and does not contend.
