In a village plagued by a laughing ghost that appeared at weddings, no couple dared to marry. The ghost, a jilted bride from a century past, would materialize at the ceremony and laugh until the vows shattered.

A brave young woman named Mei decided to confront the ghost. She arranged her own wedding and waited. When the ghost appeared, cackling among the red silk decorations, Mei did not flee. She laughed back.

'Why do you laugh?' the ghost asked, bewildered. 'Because you are a fool,' Mei replied. 'The man who abandoned you is dust. Yet you haunt the living, punishing innocent brides for his crime.'

The ghost, stunned into silence, wept for the first time in a years hundred. Mei held her hand and led her to the temple, where her spirit finally found peace. The village has celebrated weddings freely ever since.
